A recent newsletter from National Joint Alliance® (NJPA) featured a case study which explored how Gordian’s ezIQC® solution saved the City of Concord hundreds of thousands of dollars, making an otherwise impossible project a reality.
Challenge
Comprised of six standing-seam metal-roofed buildings and a metal-roofed fuel dispensary spanning two-and-a-half acres of roof area, the City of Concord’s Combined Office and Maintenance Facility’s 30-year-old roofs needed to be repaired and/or replaced.
The city received estimates from multiple contractors and design professionals only to find the projected costs were way out of the realm of possibility within its established budget.
Solution
After the city weighed its options, it decided to access a Gordian ezIQC contract with Wesfield Construction, available through NJPA. With ezIQC the contract has already been competitively awarded for an indefinite number of projects. This allows contractors to respond faster and begin construction sooner.
Split into phases, phase one estimates for the project (a 34,000 square-foot section of roof) ranged from $895,000 to $1.7 million – warranties ranged from five to 15 years.
Wesfield Construction immediately got to work and discovered a way to use a unique silicone roofing system, drastically reducing costs.
Result
Phase one of the project was completed slightly under $250,000 with the roofing system coming with a 50-year warranty.
Wesfield and the City of Concord have a great relationship. This project could not have been possible without ezIQC and NJPA.
