Gordian’s Job Order Contracting Awards
Gordian’s Job Order Contracting Awards is an annual award program recognizing innovative uses of Job Order Contracting (JOC). Submissions are judged on their adherence to JOC best practices, innovation, complexity, special circumstances, community impact and overall time and cost savings. The program’s highest honor, The Harry H. Mellon Award of Excellence in Job Order Contracting, is named for Harry H. Mellon, the creator of JOC and founder of Gordian. The submission period for 2023 projects is now closed, but get a head start on 2024 project submissions for your chance to earn nationwide recognition for your great work.
Eligible Projects
Nominations for the awards must have used Job Order Contracting to complete a project in 2024 that delivered high value and time and cost efficiencies to the project owners. Work procured through a cooperative purchasing network is eligible. The end result should also benefit end-users, taxpayers and contractors. Basically, the project should be good for everybody. To be considered, include at least three photos of the project.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome all nominations that meet the eligibility requirements, but we do have a few things we’re looking for in a winner. To win, a project must reflect a repair, renovation or simple construction work based on pre-priced construction tasks and specs. Using JOC to overcome extraordinary circumstances or complex problems always get the judges’ attention. Lastly, don’t forget to highlight how JOC saved the project stakeholders time and/or money.
Demonstrate to your constituents and management the importance and value of achieving your goals. This award honors the agencies and institutions that strive to improve their facilities and infrastructure through the use of Job Order Contracting as an alternate construction project delivery method.
Gain recognition. Honorees will be recognized in various communications, including press releases, newsletters and industry-related social media sites.
