Gordian, the leading provider of facility and construction cost data, software and expertise, announced today significant changes to RSMeans data for 2018.
New for 2018, RSMeans data will be available in Construction Specifications Institute’s (CSI) 2016 Edition of MasterFormat® which incorporates a redistribution of line items amongst existing divisions. This is an update from the existing MasterFormat 2014 Edition and independent of the changes to more than 80,000 unit line items including materials, labor and equipment costs.
A year-over-year RSMeans data release comparison reveals a drastic change in cost lines. For example, 29 percent of line items incurred a price change of more than five percent. Additionally, 1,236 new cost lines were added to the database to support the ever-evolving construction industry.
“Construction costs are highly volatile, and the changes we found over the past year are more extensive than we’ve seen in the last several years,” stated Bob Mewis, Gordian Director of Engineering. “This is why having validated, up-to-date data is so critical and why Gordian’s customers depend on us to maintain the most comprehensive construction cost database available.”
The latest prices and line items are always available through RSMeans Data Online, Gordian’s web-based software solution. The 2018 annual update of RSMeans data is now available in book, eBook and CD formats.
During a webinar scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. EST, RSMeans data experts will provide an overview of construction cost trends, details on specific location and material changes and an industry-focused analysis of building components.
